tonight's obsession

So is it sad I rely on shows like Gossip Girl and 90210 to find new music? Well tonight on Gossip Girl I was introduced to "The Drums". I discovered this song "Best Friends" and fell in love.

P.S. I want to dance like this guy!

owlz

Shane and fiance Kelsey just sent me the coolest beanie ever in the mail. It was the best thing that happened to me today. Wait that's a lie, I found out my car is going to cost $1200 to get fixed! That was the best news. Back to the matter at hand, I'll be wearing this all winter so get used to it. Don't like it, tough.....
When I go to Oakland for their wedding I am so getting that Koala beanie you see there in the middle row all the way to the right.
I just found another pic of one online

then I came across this little gem....
love zebras!

See, I do not think I am ballzy enough to wear it right now that's why I got the Owl one first, baby steps!

hitchhiking

ok so today I was talking to Natalie about how I pooed my pants on my mission because I got a major parasite. I told her I had photos to show how I had lost like 10 pounds that week. While I was looking through pics I found some videos.

During p-days in Aguadulce, there was nothing to do. We were about an hour away from the nearest missionaries. There was only so many times you could go to the same restaurant so we decided to take a nice bike ride to the beach. Little did we know it was the grossest beach ever but it was forever away.

So we went up a little further and it was even worse!!! But I did take, in my opinion the best pic of my mission. It's not that great, but I like it.

Oh and here's me chillin . . . with the member that showed us the way.

To our surprise 3 members from our branch showed up out of nowhere.

They were pissed we didn't take them with us. We noticed they didn't bring any bikes and there are no buses that go out there. So we asked them how they got out there.....

Yah in case you couldn't hear, they hitchhicked there  . . .

so after about a half hour of mingling with the locals . . .

Yes we decided to hitchhike back!!! Best decision of mission. So fun! I could not stop laughing. One of my favorite memories of Panama.

♥ 2 ♥

Last night after a really fun dinner I had at my place, my friend Aimee and I went on a walk. We had quite the deep conversation about life. I was reminded of some quotes from one of the most incredible women in fashion, Diane von Furstenberg.

"You're always with yourself, so you might as well enjoy the company."

"The most important relationship in your life is the relationship you have with yourself. Because no matter what happens, you will always be with yourself."

Sure our relationships with others are vital but like she said it is important to have a relationship with ourselves, as weird as that sounds. From a religious point of view, obviously the relationship that should take precedent above all others, is our relationship with God. I believe as our relationship with God is strengthened it is only natural that our relationship with our self strengthens.

OK I know I post these videos all the time. Seriously I am obsessed! This one is an oldie and I hadn't watched it in such a long time. I seriously cry every time I watch this one. This video really makes me think how selfish I can be at times. I get so caught up in my own life and my own problems that I don't see all the people around me that need help or just a friend. I have been the recipient of so many acts of love this last year.  People do not realize how a simple smile or phone call has made my day. I am striving to develop and show that same love to those around me.

serenity

I luvvv this poem. I didn't realize how well known it was but I was so happy to find it.
The Serenity Prayer

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him
Forever in the next.
Amen.

not a fan

So I have concluded that I am the only human on this planet who is not a fan of the movie Inception. People are shocked when I say I did not enjoy it. It is simple I don't like sci-fi, never have, never will.

the man I almost hit with my car

So a couple of months ago I almost hit President Uchtdorf (a.k.a. my mom's BF) with my car. I had just gotten out of class in downtown Salt Lake. I was driving past the Gateway Mall and I had to swerve to avoid hitting this man that was standing in the middle of my lane. I thought to myself who is this guy and why is he putting his suit coat on in the middle of the freaking street? As I passed the man I had to do a double take because I realized it was Uchtdorf that I almost hit.

The reason I bring this up is because the new Mormon Message Video that was just put on the church's website was once again something I most definitely needed. I hope you enjoy it as much as did.

the wench of the city

Although Olivia Palermo from The City is a complete bitch she does know how to dress. This was taken this last week at Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week. Let's be honest Olivia is a 10 I think I would still take Snookie over Olivia anyday.

trashy reality

For several months I have refused to jump on the bandwagon and become a fan of MTV's, The Jersey Shore. I am addicted to other MTV reality shows but I felt I would hate this show for some reason. I decided to give it a chance. I am here to say that I am 100% in Love. I have to admit this is one of the trashiest shows I have ever watched. Lets just say I would never want to cross any of the cast members, male or female, cuz they are vicious creatures!
Snooki (Nicole) pretty much is the Jersey Shore. We've decided to make it official, we are now boyfriend and girlfriend, cute I know. Who knows what the future has in store for us. By watching The Hills and The City we have learned that it is never a good idea to bring your lover on TV for it ruins the best of relationships. So I won't be making a cameo on the hit show, keep in mind it is for the best.  Snookims is feisty+short+tanned bod+Italian+triple EEs = my ideal lover. I can't begin to describe the love I have for this guidette bombshell. She has 0 tolerance for BS and couldn't give a rat's ass what people think and most importantly she loves being the center of attention. For example, one night she tore up the dance floor (as usual) in the shortest dress that barely covered her lucious a** and proceeded to do blackflips exposing herself to the entire club. She left me speechless. I've got to say she makes great TV but even a better GF. Luv u Shnooks!

Season 2 begins in a couple of weeks, can't wait, HUGE!

Good Things to Come

I can't tell you how many times I have watched this video in the past week. I love the videos they post on the church website. It seems each time they post a video the message shared is exactly what I needed.

dead hearts are everywhere

I am so excited for Stars' new album, "The Five Ghost".  It doesn't officially come out till June 22. I cannot wait. I have been listening to it on NPR nonstop today. I cannot get enough. Really I am addicted. In my opinion it is their best album yet. It is def one of those albums you can listen to the entire thing. Check it out. Here are the lyrics to my favorite song on the album:

Dead Hearts
Tell me everything that happened
Tell me everything you saw
They had light inside their eyes

Did you see the closing window?
Did you hear the slamming door?
They moved forward, my heart died

Oh please tell me what they looked like
Did they seem afraid of you?
They were kids that I once knew

I could say it but you wont believe me
You say you do but you don't deceive me
It's hard to know they're out there
It's hard to know that you still care

I could say it but you wont believe me
You say you do but you don't deceive me
Dead hearts are everywhere

Did you touch them?
Did you hold them?
Did they follow you to town?
They make me feel I'm falling down

Was there one you saw too clearly?
Did they seem too real to you?

They were kids that I once knew
Now they're all dead hearts to you.

the freak

Why do I love this song? I know this song has been out forever and it is so cheesy!!!! but d.a.m.n. I love it. I totally forgot about it until today when I put my itunes on shuffle and this totally made me so happy. Wow! this is the most embarrassing confession I have made on my blog. Well except the time I admitted I am in love with Kelly Cutrone and want to make babies with her!

kellycutronetv

Have I mentioned lately how much I love Kelly Cutrone? Ok it's been like 2 months. Kell has her own youtube channel. Everyone needs to subscribe to kellycutronetv.  So she drops the f bomb all the time but I still would lovvvve to become her 24 year old lover. She was born in 1967 so she's only about 19 years older than me, that's not too shabby. Every time I watch this video I laugh hysterically. The end of the video is the best, Kelly and Justine Bateman (Mallory from Family Ties) start head banging simultaneously. I honestly would like to try this via video chat. It looks incredibly asinine but fun. Any takers?

geography class is so dangerous!

As most of you know I have switched my major to geography. The bad thing about this is that I am constantly learning about the coolest places on earth. This week my greatest desire is to visit Canada. These are a couple places I want to visit in Canada:
Quebec is one of the oldest cities in North America and it has some beautiful architecture. It's so European!
Jasper National Park looks gorgeous!!!! My professor said that the clouds are insane. Its only 20 hours away. I am seriously considering taking a drive there by myself, stay a day, and drive back!!
The capital of Canada, Ottawa, looks divine. When I have a lover I would like to frolic along this waterway and picnic under the trees.
The Northern Lights speak for themselves!

Ok there are other things I'd like to see in Canada but here are some of the main attractions I will be visiting.

my curls are gone!!!

Over the past few months I have enjoyed having my head full of beautiful curls. At the current moment I am utterly devastated. The wench at Super Cuts ruined me!!! For some reason when ever I go get my haircut they never ever listen. Today I said please just take a little bit off the top (not a f'in inch)!!!!  This is my theory: these CHATTY CATHY HAIRSTYLISTS get to talking so much to you that they forget what you even asked them to do. Well luckily hair grows back and my hair grows back pretty quick. In the mean time I have to go around looking like I am 13 again. I cannot wait to have my curls back!!!!

whip it!

Well my new addiction is rollerskating. Two months ago I went rollerskating at my friend Desi's B-Day party and I was shocked of how difficult rollerskating was compared to rollerblading.  I think part of the difficulty came from using the cheapest skates they had at the rink. I think in the past 2 weeks I have gone skating 4 times and my love for it is growing each day.

I can now do a crossover like this chica.  It's fun because each time I go I get better.
Last Saturday we went to check out the tryouts for this roller derby league in Utah. I must say it was one of the funnest things I've done in a long time. Come to find out there is even a mens league in Utah. I thought I would be too small to be in Roller Derby. But after talking to Honey (the woman that runs the league) she explained that my height could be an advantage because I could maneuver around 300 pound men easily. So my new goal is to tryout for the mens league in a couple of months.  Honey said that if we practiced twice a week for a month or two we would become good enough skaters to tryout.

ROLLER DERBY HERE I COME!
P.S. If you haven't seen the movie Whip It, you need to, ASAP!

ugh i live in S***!!!!!!!

Ok I have lived in this dump called "The Ranch" for too long, 2 years to be exact. I am determined to move in August. I wish I could move sooner but I can't afford it till then.
We have had 4 different animals live here in the 2 years I've been here. 1 Great Dane, 1 Mastiff, 2 mangy stray cats. We currently have 1 stray cat residing with us, not my choice trust me. I have thrown the cat of the house several times but it keeps on coming back. I have been really close to driving to the pound and dropping it off. I find anyway I can to torture it like spraying it with Febreeze.  It's embarrassing to have friends over because the house reeks of cat piss! My roommate seems to think it's ok to let in strange cats but never be home to take of them.

Last item of business. If I have to look at a shit stained toilet seat one more time I might bust a cap, no joke!!!

I don't know if the log collides on its way down to the bowl or what. The point is, clean up after your nasty ass.  I purposely keep windex in the bathroom with the hopes that he will clean up his mess, never happens. So who gets the pleasure of drowning the seat in windex? That would be me.

So these are just a couple of reasons I want to move!!! I don't know if I can last 3.5 months.

Pray for my sanity!

phashun!

Well my life can return to normal. Since December my friend Katie I and some other peeps have been planning a Charity Fashion Show. It was a lot of work but so worth it. I had 7 pieces in the show, so I was super busy sewing, needless to say I won't be sewing for at least 2 months. The event was a big success and everyone that attended had a great time. I hope to be involved in something like this again it was so rewarding. Once we get more pics from the show I will make sure to post them.

One thing I hate . . . .

I cannot stand when people use the word "Jew" instead of using the correct word "you". I don't know if people that use "Jew" instead of "you" are trying to sound cute or funny. Newsflash, first of all its not cute and most importantly I find it very inappropriate. Ok I am sick of hearing people use it to say "I miss jew" just say "I miss you" for crying out loud!!!! PALEASEEEEE!!!

Kell on Earth

The woman above is Kelly Cutrone, this woman not only scares the bageebees out of me but also intrigues me. You may recognize this woman that is constantly in black from MTV's The City and The Hills where she has been "the boss" of Whitney Port and Lauren Conrad. She owns a very successful Fashion PR firm called People's Revolution.  Kelly is known for being a brutal boss, she does not put up with any shit. I could go on and on about this remarkably frightening fashion powerhouse. She now has her own show on Bravo called Kell on Earth. There has only been 2 episodes thus far but I am already hooked. I love it because it shows another side of the fashion industry. I would really like to work with for this witch and see if I could survive. I highly doubt I would last a day. Really check out her new show!

new love

So one of my favorite movies of 2009 was 500 Days of Summer (thanks to Desi's influence).  I think Zooey Deschanel is Fabulous! If she wasn't married to Ben Gibbard I am pretty sure she'd be married to me. In the movie she does do a little singing and I thought she did a phenomenal job. Since I loved the soundtrack to the movie I had to download it. One of the songs on the soundtrack is by a band named She & Him. Friday I learned that Zooey is in that band along with M. Ward (who I've been a fan of for a while).  Since I am secretly having an affair with her I was shocked to find out she was hiding such a thing. When Taylor told me that Zooey was in that band I had to check out her music. Well I instantly fell in love with this album, check it out.

The dolphin's smile is nature's greatest deception!

For years Sea World has been my happy place. My family has this great love for Sea World. We are not huge fans of places like Disneyland, I think it's because we have weak stomachs, ok I know its just Disneyland, how bad can the rides be. I think the teacups have scarred me for life. Well anyways we have always enjoyed a relaxing day watching the dolphins and other marine life do tricks and entertain us.  Until I watched the movie "The Cove" I had never asked myself are the animals there actually happy? Is it moral that we keep these animals caged up practically for our own personal enjoyment? How selfish can we be? If we enjoy marine life so much why don't we take a small cruise out in the ocean and see these amazing animals in their natural environment, their home. One can take fairly inexpensive 2 hour cruises out in the ocean and see marine life.

Well I strongly suggest that you rent "The Cove". It's at red box for your convenience. The first step to solve any problem is to educate yourself about the problem. Here are a list of facts about what is going on in Taiji, Japan.

• About 23,000 dolphins, porpoises and other small whales are killed in Japan every year, making it the largest scale slaughter of cetaceans in the world.
• About 2,500 dolphins and other small whales are killed in the so-called dolphin drive hunt that takes place six months out of the year. The rest are killed with handheld harpoons out at sea.
(lovely dolphin blood bath)

• Operating with 13 motorized boats, the fishermen go out to sea at early sunrise and look for migrating dolphins. Banging on metal pipes submerged into the water, they terrorize the dolphins with a "wall of sound," causing the dolphins to panic.
• Terrorizing the dolphins with underwater sound, the fishermen herd the dolphins into a secret killing cove close to Taiji Town.
• Often times, dolphins die during the chase that can last eight hours or more.
• The Taiji fishermen claim that dolphins eat too much fish and therefore must be exterminated.
• Operating with a permit from their government, the Taiji fishermen have referred to the dolphin hunt as "pest control."
• The majority of people in Japan have no knowledge about the annual dolphin blood bath.

• The fishermen kill the dolphins with spears, fishermen's hooks and knives. Trashing about in their own blood, the dolphins emit high-pitched screams during the massacre. (As seen above)
• The slaughtered dolphins are processed into meat and distributed to supermarkets throughout Japan for human consumption.
• Dolphin meat from drive hunts in Taiji proved to be highly contaminated with toxic chemicals such as mercury, methyl mercury and PCBs.
• Repeated chemical analyses have shown that the level of mercury in dolphin meat is much higher than the maximum allowable level set by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare of Japan.
• Some of the dolphin meat is given to children as part of their school lunch program.
• The Japanese government and the supermarkets issue no warning that dolphin meat is mercury-contaminated.
• The fishermen of Taiji have told us that the Japanese people have no right to know about the dolphin hunt or the high levels of mercury found in the meat.
• Concealing this information from the public is a violation of Article 21 of the Japanese Constitution.
• Some members of the international aquarium and zoo industry are strongly connected to the Japanese dolphin slaughter, in that they pay top dollar for dolphins deemed suitable for commercial exploitation in dolphin shows and captive dolphin swim programs.
• Dolphinariums throughout the world, including Japan, repeatedly make the claim that captivity of dolphins promotes dolphin conservation and protection. (yah right)

• Several of the hundreds of captive dolphins in Japan's 50 dolphinariums were obtained through the dolphin drive hunts; yet the dolphinariums do nothing to educate the public to the hunt.
• The World Association for Zoos and Aquariums (WAZA) is the world's largest network of zoos and aquariums around the world.
• Dolphinariums that have conducted business with the dolphin killers of Japan have been welcomed into WAZA's network, although the trade in these dolphins clearly violates WAZA's Code of Ethics.
• The dolphins that are purchased by members of the dolphin captivity industry represent a much higher commercial value to the Japanese dolphin hunters than the ones that are slaughtered for meat.
• Live dolphins captured in a Taiji dolphin drive hunt recently sold for $154,000 per dolphin.
• The Japanese dolphin hunt will continue for as long as members of the international dolphinarium industry continue to reward the hunters for show quality dolphins, thereby making the hunt tremendously profitable.
• The most sought after dolphin species for public display are bottlenose dolphins, orcas, white sided dolphins, Risso's dolphins, pilot whales and Pseudo orcas, all of which have been targeted in the Japanese dolphin drive hunt.

Ok sorry for the long list, but it breaks my heart to finally know the truth.  Next I want to quickly relate about the atrocity of capturing dolphins.  These captured dolphins go to perform in places such as Sea World.

  • Captures of dolphins are traumatic and stressful and can result in injury and death of dolphins. The number of dolphins that die during capture operations or shortly thereafter are never revealed in dolphinariums (sea world) or swim-with-dolphins programs. Some facilities even claim their dolphins were "rescued" from the ocean and cannot be released. This claim is almost invariably false.
  • Training of dolphins is often deliberately misrepresented by the captive dolphin industry to make it look as if dolphins perform because they like it. This isn't the case. They are performing because they have been deprived of food.
  • Most captive dolphins are confined in minuscule tanks containing chemically treated artificial seawater. Dolphins in a tank are severely restricted in using their highly developed sonar, which is one of the most damaging aspects of captivity. It is much like forcing a person to live in a hall of mirrors for the rest of their life - their image always bouncing back with no clear direction in sight. (how would that make you feel seriously?)
Ok so the next time you think of going to Sea World or any place like it, think of what it takes for it to get there. Think of how these animals are taken from their homes and families to be confined in tanks to entertain us.

If you would like to learn more about this go to http://www.savejapandolphins.org/

Well sorry for the novel, but I think it is a very sad thing what is happening and has been happening. The sad thing is that I had no idea that this was occurring.

Watch this video too!

Spring and Summer favs! I know im a few months late!

So I am in class. Extremely ticked off at my employer, not my boss, but the freakin company. Well to take my mind off how much I want to send a bomb in the mail. I will distract myself from all the anger that I am feeling via blogging during my boring political science class.

Lately I've been looking back at the spring/summer fashion shows. Here are a list of my favorite looks for this season.

First off these are my 2 favorite looks for Chanel.

If I were you girls, the next funeral you attend pick up one of these classy chic Chanel looks! You'll be the talk of the funeral!

Next, here are my favorite 2 looks from the Marc by Marc Jacobs show.

I love the colors. It's refreshing to see such vibrant colors!

And for my favorite men's look I of course have to show my fav men's designer Antonio Azzuolo.

Its all about short shorts mixed with business wear! I wish I could go to work looking like this!

Ok I feel a little better now that i've blogged, but I still have an hour of class, snooze!
